Cloud Computing & Charities in the Credit Crunch
Businesses in general may be finally starting to come out the other side of the credit crunch, but reports show that for charities, the problems are just beginning.
Because Not-For-profit organisations are dependent on donations from the previous year, the full impact of cuts has yet to hit the sector, and it will be a long wait for Charities while the economy recovers.
A recent NCVO survey shows 77 per cent of Charities surveyed felt the economic conditions with the voluntary sector will be negative for the next year, and with many further cuts still expected, the future looks tough. Many organisations will be looking to cut expenditure in the coming months.
We have already had many enquiries from charities looking to cut their ICT budgets and improve efficiency. For many national charities, the main problems lie in their dispersed workforce. With various operatives working in projects up and down the country, they lack the capital expenditure budgets for large ICT infrastructure installations.
Cloud Computing could be the answer. With many solutions based on Microsoft Software, Hosted Desktop suppliers have the opportunity to discount academics and charities heavily, offering ICT to a remote workforce in a truly cost effective manner. By offering remote working to users across the country, the ability to reduce ICT costs whilst improving performance, reliability and return on investment is now a reality.
The approach is especially powerful when you add the fact that no upfront capital expenditure is needed to move onto a hosted solution, your licensing is provided and kept up to date for you and it’s all supported and backed up.
